There are certain scents that can immediately transport me back to my very early childhood in Nova Scotia where I would spend the first eight years of my life.
Taking long walks in the woods with my beautiful Mother was my introduction to the world of plants and their magnificent and sometimes mysterious properties. We would forage for wild blueberries and marvel at their earthy green scent, squish tea berries between our fingers to release their clean wintergreen aroma, and in early spring as soon as the snow melted, she showed me how to push back the dried leaves from the previous fall to reveal the sweet bouquet of May Flowers emerging from their winter slumber. Fiddlehead, or Ostrich Ferns, would unfurl their grassy fragrant fronds. On rare occasion, our treks were rewarded by the elusive, sweetly scented lady slipper. We would sniff pine resin from the trees and their clean scented cones and needles. We would marvel at the invigorating citrus personality of the Juniper Berry. It was all so magical!
It wasn’t just in the forest! Into the Garden we would go! Crushing fresh basil, mint and lavender in my little hands, I would wonder at a bumblebee’s journey through the Roses, Holly Hocks, Geranium and Sweet William. The Earth Incense of the Garden holds some of my sharpest first recollections. Even at that tiny age I was able to experience the “soul” or vibration of plants and living things although I was too young to formulate in words what I was experiencing. It would be much later in life that I would study how all plants and botanicals contain energy. They are directly dependent on the Universe and its Cosmic rhythms.
It is an honour and delight to share my knowledge in assisting you in experiencing Botanical Essential Oils and how they can work to sooth, uplift and inspire us physically, mentally and spiritually.
